David Alexander, born in 1962, is an accomplished artist and photographer known for his diverse contributions to the field. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree under the mentorship of David Freund, renowned for his “Gas Stop” series, at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Pursuing further education, he studied with Nathan and Joan Lyons while working toward his Master of Fine Arts at the Visual Studies Workshop (VSW).
Early in his career, Alexander gained valuable experience through internships with prominent figures in photography. He interned with Virginia Swanson during the “Day in the Life of America” project and with esteemed photographer Mary Ellen Mark. Demonstrating his versatility, he co-developed an early “Photo Stock Agency” software called Alfafile, collaborating with Anna (Friedlander) Roma, daughter to Lee Friedlander and film director Martin Bell.
Alexander’s creative endeavors have been showcased in notable exhibitions. He recently presented his work at the SPRING/BREAK Art Show in New York City and Los Angeles, curated by show founders Andrew Gori and Ambre Kelly. His innovative approach to photography continues to captivate audiences and contribute to contemporary art discussions.
Alexander is a co-founder of Harry Apps, Inc (mobile software development) and Yellow Cat Gallery, with artist Dasha Bazanova.
